Notes: 10/9/03 - A Twin Bee arrives at Moosehead Lake. Twenty-some UC-1's were produced from Republic RC-3 Seabees in the 1980's. A report on the Twin Bee may be seen Click here. It is written by Mr. LeBel, the owner of this aircraft and is both interesting and informative. Pretty objective too, I would say!
N65NE was originally certificated as a Twin Bee in 1986, as N71021. It lived in Wisconsin and Texas before becoming a Rhode Island resident. |

Notes: The wheels are down as "November Echo" approaches the ramp to get out of the water so folks at the International Seaplane Fly-In can get a good look. "The leans" is something I think one would have to get used to in a flying boat, as it goes toward one side or the other to rest on a wing float.
The Twin Bee has a rather flat, four foot section added to the front of the tailboom, just ahead of the N65NE in this photo. On a conventional Seabee, the top profile of the tailboom is curved all the way to the cabin. |
