Notes: : July 5, 2004 - Douglas DC-6, N90884, c/n 43108 and fuselage #94 was delivered to Braniff in October 1947, and they gave it fleet #884.
Braniff sold it to La Jolla Associates in February 1966, and the next day it went to Aviateca Airlines in Guatemala. (Aviateca Aerolineas de Guatemala). They operated it as TG-APA and named it "Atitlan". Lake Atitlan lies high among the volcanoes of Central America and is famous for its natural beauty and colorful Mayan villages. Aviateca still had 'APA in 1971 but it doesn't show up in my 1980 JP Directory.
It is pictured here with the name Braniff International Airways. I welcome information that would help get us closer to the year of the photo based on the name and paint scheme. Also history after 1971. |
