Notes: : July 3, 2004 - Loading cargo into Douglas DC-6A, N37590. All three of the cargo handlers are wearing ties!
This aircraft is c/n 44905, fuselage #670 and bore United's fleet #6090. It was operated as "Cargoliner New York" from its April 1956 delivery until February 1968 when it was put into storage.
N37590 was sold to Bill Murphy Buick of Los Angeles, CA in 1969 and went to Andes Airlines (Aerolineas Nacionales del Ecuador, SA) as HC-AQS in early 1970. They named it "La Foca", Spanish for "The Seal". It became N37590 again in Dec. 1970 and then HC-AQS again in January 1971. At one point it was TG-RUZ under Guatemalan registry. It was registered to Guidi Luis Felipe Gonzalez, of Miami, FL as N9076G in 1982 and still appears on the FAA registry.
I cannot find that it has survived, or crashed, and welcome any insights into its final destiny. Is it rotting away in a corner somewhere around Miami? It appears that another aircraft may also have been registered as N37590 at one time. It is DC-6AB, c/n 44915 which has also been registered as N90780, OO-ABE, F-BRID and N232Z. |
