Notes: What a photogenic lineup here! That's probably a Norseman wing tip on the far left. Then a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser, the Fox Moth, a Cessna 180 and around the corner to the right, another Norseman! Wow, it would be pretty hard to recreate that scene, wouldn't it?
The DeHavilland Fox Moth carried up to four passengers in an enclosed cabin. Even the pilot had a canopy over him. It was probably no ball-of-fire with its little 130-hp, DeHavilland "Gipsy-Major", four-cylinder, inverted in-line engine! It was a British design but was also built in Canada, as late as 1945.
The owner/operator of the C-180 there had a reputation for regularly entertaining his passengers with a loop or two enroute to their destination. One day he didn't come home and he and his aircraft were found scattered in the bush. |
