Notes: 10/15/05 - This pretty C-18 was at the L&M Outposts/Clearwater Airways' dock in Emo, on our way back from Red Lake. It was not a good morning for photos but we had to get going, so here they are! Sierra-Whisky was out for an inspection when we got the photos of C-FGUE.
C-GESW was built as AAF C-45F, s/n 44-47503, with Beechcraft c/n 7911. On P103 Parmerter says of this aircraft: "Sixty-one Lend-Lease Expediter IIs were delivered to the Royal Navy and most were delivered to India for communications work." And then later, "FT985 was at NAS Anacostia, Washington, DC for use by the British Embassy from August 1945 to 1948", and he then identifies it as the present C-GESW.
Again, according to Parmerter (P476) this is one of 12 that Joe Marrs put on Edo 56-7850 floats. (Joe was a good friend of my father's and I met him on several occasions.) It was registered as N4858V at the time and was used by Isle Royale Seaplane Service, in Michigan.

It doesn't offend me if a Twin Beech floatplane seems to have its nose "up in the air" a bit. Especially if there is something more ordinary docked nearby. |

C-GESW is one of only two Beech 18 floatplanes we saw without a cargo door. This is your original Beechcraft cabin door with the porthole. |
